Velvet Tees is currently under my brand spotlight, and with good reason. This past year, I’ve been working on supporting more ethical American based fashion brands. This change occurred when I became aware of how greatly the fashion industry impacted the environment. A sweet friend of mine, Brittanie from the blog A Conscious Curation , introduced me to this lifestyle and helped me become more aware the impact my purchases make on our planet and the people who inhabit it. Let me be the first to warn you that the chemicals that go into making your clothing can have serious effects on the skin. So many articles of clothing are dyed using harmful synthetic dyes and these dyes can damage your skin and damage the environment! That’s why I was beyond excited to partner with Velvet Tees and create this 30A lookbook! It’s not every day I get to work with an ethical, sustainable, carefully curated line like this, which is why I am so pumped to share how I styled these pieces!
I love this simple Tee firstly because the mauvey pink is a compliment to any skin tone. This top was made with hand dyed yarns in the U.S.A. The small details, like the black outline around the collar, really make this top special and easy to style. Due to its simple nature, I decided to pair this top with some loud houndstooth trousers and complete the retro look with a vintage bamboo bag.
For the second look, I styled this Velvet Tees sweater with some flair french trousers. The precious details surrounding the collar and sleeves complement the racer lines of the trousers and the ultra soft blend gives this look a really laid back feel that can be easily feminized with a pair of pumps or masculinized with some edgy sneakers.
Let me be the first to tell you that I adore a white, crisp, pintuck blouse! The Victorian esque collar was just enough of an impression from the past without getting too “Pride and Prejudice” on me if you know what I mean. Alongside, being a closet staple, it is the easiest to style for a polished effortless look. I was blown away by the detail and versatility of this blouse. Similar to a little black dress, every lady should own a white cotton blouse! I paired this piece with a denim overall mini.
